M. Tech in Structural Engineering is a 2-year course having 4 semesters with each year divided into 2 semesters. M.Tech. in Structural Engineering involves advanced study of the course’s components such as Structural Mechanics, Finite Element Analysis, Structural Dynamics, Structural Reliability and Optimization, Reinforced and Pre-Stressed Concrete, Steel Structures, Design for Wind And Earthquake, Tall Buildings And Towers, Computer Applications In Structural Engineering, etc.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in the relevant field. Obtained at least 50% marks (45% in case of candidate belonging to reserved category) at the qualifying Examination.
The major objective of the course is to impart advanced learning to eligible candidates in fundamental principles of Structural Analysis. Students are trained to implement such principles through different methods, in analyses of various types of structures, and to evaluate force and displacement parameters of such structures. Other course objectives include developing expertise in onshore infrastructure and sound background in specialized areas such as Offshore Structure/ Management (General)/ Bridge Structure/ Hydraulic Structure.
The course’s curriculum has been designed to produce engineers specialized in design, construction, repair, rehabilitation, and conservation, and maintenance of stability of structures. The course also offers the opportunity to such candidates to academically explore additional specialization in concepts of Bridge Structure/ Hydraulic Structure/ Offshore Structure as per the candidate’s interest.
